Cleaned the shop out for the Pinewood Derby workshop I'm hosting for the Girl Scout troop tomorrow. Fleming's Garage took 1st and 3rd last year, so we can make'em fast. I polish the axles and wheels while they "buid" the cars.

You should wpc treat the "axles". It doesn't say you can't.

Yup, they get soaked in JB Polyolefin after polishing. There's a YouTube video of a NASA scientist that lays out the secrets of speed.
Haha, gave me a lightbulb moment. This is the pinewood car I won with in Cub scouts as a kid. Yes I still have it, my dad shaved it down and added weight to the front while it looks "stock". She was a fast bish!

I just nailed 4 semi-round wheels to a block a wood and spray painted it. Probably came in 74th place or something lol.

The last one my brother built didn't win the race, but it still won.

My dad brought this set home in an unopened box many years ago. He probably did some minor work on a vehicle in trade for it. I have a short video but can't upload it. It works great and the longer I let it run the better it did. Most of the stuff in the pictures is still mostly unused and in the original packaging. Not sure what year it is. Most likely late 70's.

Put the PTO gearbox back together and bolted back on to the rear of my tractor. Thankfully it was in the low 50s today, through damp and muddy from morning rain.
