I had to WD40 the top 2 bolts several times. Alternating with hammer blows

Got all the bolts out, no problem except for the top 2. I used the WD40/hammer method to get them out. Lube, tap, lube, tap, about 5 times until the rust broke free enough to remove the bolts. There was substantial surface rust on the gasket surface. I covered the opening and wire wheeled it then used brake cleaner to clean the surface. Went to Advance to get new bolts because the originals were in poor shape. The brake line bracket on the right broke but the other one is in good shape. I put the new cover on and filled the differential in the rain.

Heat is your friend here. Heating up those bolts with a small Bernz-o-matic torch like plumbers use would likely have made short work of removing those top two bolts. I always keep a small torch handy for issues like that which is easy to get into tight spaces. I also have a full blown fire wrench (oxygen/acetylene) rig for when it's time to get serious.

Glad you had success nonetheless.

After driving the truck around with the new shocks I highly recommend spending the extra money for quality stuff. Truck rides just a touch stiffer but absorbs all of the pot holes and dips far smoother. Also seems to corner flatter.

So being that I had a couple scheduled days off this week, the wifey and I made it a point to tackle our landscaping out front. The first pic is when we moved in. Last year we pulled a couple bushes and had every intention of getting it done, but life got in the way and it didn't happen. So yesterday and today we devoted to cleaning up all the weeds, figured up a layout, then literally dug in and got it done! A couple rolls of weed mat, 20 bags of mulch, some new bushes and flowers, a sun burnt back, and some sore bodies later and we're done with phase 1.
We have to still tackle the sides and back of the house, but taking it one at a time....

So my garage has been a disaster zone since we started the house build. Now that we're "settled" in I wanted to reclaim it. Spent Friday night cleaning stuff out of it, putting some of it in the basement, rest in the lean to off the back of the garage. Still don't have a place for the toolbox to sit. I had to move it to make room for a new door from the mudroom into the garage. So for now it's in the middle of the second bay. I had a good friend ask who could replace the radiator on his '15 Silverado. Figure I could kill two birds with one stone. He helped me a few years ago, and it would give me some motivation to get my garage reclaimed! Was a little surprised when it only took me two hours to replace it. He was shocked. The shop he took it to quoted him $1400. Parts were $240.

Yesterday I did a ton of work on the CVPI, replaced the heated PCV valve, both upstream O2 sensors, and gave it a oil change. Also picked up a Havis police center console for $20 at the junkyard. It has a armrest, two blank panels, a cupholder panel, and a triple 12v outlet panel. I discovered one the lower radiator bushings was a incorrect part that didn't fit, replaced it with a proper one from the junkyard.

Besides that, I also rebuilt the second U joint on mower deck's PTO shaft. It uses a fancy Italian style, series 4 PTO shaft. Replaced the needle valve in the tractor as it started to stick again. Thankfully its a simple 1bbl, updraft Zenith carb so its only a 10 min job.

I was going to try an cut my own hair but then realized I have a hard enough time keeping my beard nice so there was no way I would be able to make my hair look decent so I just shaved it off.😆

i swapped the open end 2.94 gears out for a 3.23 sure grip center section. also put new axles in. when i originally ordered the converter for the car it was built for a 3.23 gear that i knew was going to go in sooner or later. the axles i took out were mopar c-body axles cut down to a-body size by moser about 25 years ago. figured the rear was the only thing not gone through when i did the 360 a few years ago, so i may as well do it when i swap gears. have had all the parts laying around for about 2 years now. being that everything is closed and we really aren't supposed to be out and about with this virus blowing through the states it was a good time to do it..

A friend of mine is getting ready to start up his 85 Regal with a 72 or so Buick 455 with a TH 400. Won't let me upload a video. Primed the carb, turned over for about 10 seconds and then it fired up. The engine sat in the back of a truck for 3 years. Sounds just like a BBB. IMG_20200329_131829.jpg IMG_20200329_130508.jpg
