I have been busy all weekend. Changed oil and filter in the goat and got it all ready for the season. I even moved for the first time this year.
20200425_154036.jpg
I got the Jumpjump as Lindsey calls it put back up. We take it down for the winter.
20200426_152136.jpg
Changed the spark plugs, wires, and thermostat in the Regal. They look to be original and shot. The gap on them was huge.

I managed to rip the terminals out of most of the wires. So now the stage one kit is all installed. I took it for a ten or so mile drive. I don't think it is fast, but definitely quick. About 7-9 psi of boost now. Has a lot of get up and go now. The best part is the skip shifts programmed into the ECM. Let's it spool up faster and go. Well worth the trouble and money. I did a bunch of other stuff too, but no one cares about that. So there you go.

Thanks! It was hard work. I'm pretty sore from crawling around in that bed spraying the walls.

Yeah, I feel for you guys in the rust belt. Both his truck and mine have sat outside almost every day we've owned them and they don't have any rust. If they aren't sitting around, especially on an unpaved surface, they don't rust. It can really pay off to take care of a car down here but most people still don't. Most just trade it in on a new one. Mine's been paid off since March of 2013. Both trucks have over 180k miles on them and we have to work on them but they both are still nice.

Wish my 2002 Ranger was in that good of a shape. Its going to need a whole new rear bed at some point as two of the bed body mounts are gone. The main issue up north is the damn road salt and the DOTs like to go insanely overboard with it rather than use a reasonable amount. Slightest chance of snow or sub freezing temps and they will go out and dump millions of tons of salt.

So today I resumed the CAI shroud I'd half-*ss started last year.

Next step was to make it out of 1 piece of 24"x24" aluminum.

Made some tweaks here to the trace before cutting it out.

Got a little tweaking to do, but it came out pretty good. Once it's tweaked, I'll mount my catch can to it. As expected, there is very little room for error.

If I bridge the gap over the intake pipe, there's very little engine heat that could make its way to the filter area.

Here's how it matches the contour of the hood. This is a first for me, I don't do this stuff for a living.

This area is fed by a hose coming from the driver's fog light hole.

And finally, also a bit out of order, is a pic of the single piece of aluminum vs the many scraps of cardboard that were taped together to create the template.

Were I to have been the one to have built this car from the ground up, there's a million things I'd have done differently. I've been taking somewhat of a "fab around what I have" approach. Still though, it's very encouraging for me to see this car slowly evolve more into my creation than that of the original builder's. As a friend put it, what I'm undoing is dull hatchet work.

What's the story with the wheel weights?

I was just eyeing a raptor kit this morning. Thinking of spraying the floorpan and inside the trunk. Looks good! Where did you get your kit from?
I bought it on eBay. There were several kits available with different amounts of material, tintable or not, with or without the gun, etc. Hafrod used it on the bottom of and in the trunk of his 55. His review was what made me decide to go with Upol. The stuff is pretty friendly to work with.

Good eye. There's a rule in my class that says unused brackets that are welded on from the factory can't be cut off. This car went to a higher class, then back down so the weights were added at the discretion of the director so that nobody could file a weeny protest. All long before I got the car.

I dread putting our trampoline back together.

Unless my wife offered to do something like this:

Then I would be significantly more motivated.
