Tore into the Cub Cadet today to change the valve cover gasket, again 🤬!!! I started it a couple weeks ago and it started smoking almost instantly.
Soooo, trying to get ahead of the curve this time, I used some red high temp RTV, and made a heat shield to go between the valve cover and muffler. Then I laid some DEI heat tape on it. I'll be curious to see how it does this year.

Make sure those case cover bolts that go around the top are all tight. That's what kills those Kohler Courages. Among other things.

Went over to the summer cottage to work on the ceiling that I’m in the middle of repairing due to water damage. Next trip over I’ll be putting the 3/8”plywood back up and painted. We were doing our do diligence and practicing social distancing, nobody was around so it was easy.

After lunch I washed the three daily drivers in the driveway. The afternoon turned out to be beautiful. I should have taken a photo of the three but was losing interest after the last vacuum and interior detailing. Glad it’s over with. Gotta get wax on all of them at some point, two of the three got done last fall and are due, the new truck will get done last.

I mowed the front lawn with my Toro Proline I bought and fixed up over the winter. First time I've really gotten a chance to mow with it. It's a 2 cycle with a Suzuki engine on it. IIRC it's a 1991. 3 speed transmission and no safety compliance devices because it's commercial equipment. It started on the second pull and ran like a bat out of hell.

Cruising FB marketplace this morning and stumbled on a zero turn not too far away that needed work. Realized the guy had only posted it 16 minutes before. I messaged him and then borrowed a friend's trailer to go get it. He showed me over twenty other messages after mine from people that wanted it.

Husqvarna 27hp with a 72" deck for $500 😎

Drove it! Grocery day. Tried to go early to avoid the line ups and stock outs and still encountered way too many people to be comfortable. Next stop was the gas bar to fill up the tank and my 5 gallon plastic jerry can. Have a few more cans so planning to get them filled too.

Went on a motorcycle ride with the wife to get her a full-face helmet. She ended up convincing me to test drive a 2006 Suzuki V-Strom 650 that I had been looking at for the last month or so. They gave me a decent deal, so I got it. The engine is actually smaller than my Honda Shadow, but it has plenty of power for 2 up riding and the NVH is miles better.

The DL650 (wee Strom) engine makes 21 horsepower more that the Shadow 750, very similar torque. They are a surprisingly capable bike that can do gravel roads as well as run down newbs on sportbikes. I had a SV1000S and really enjoy the big 90* V engines and would absolutely ride a 'strom. Enjoy that bike!
