Yea I remember.005" at the high end, lash not preload.

You have any idea why they spec endplay there and the mainshaft? Most builders shim to the tight end and I'm in contact with a guy who prefers to preload it. I can get about 1 thou preload with the .050" shim, the .048" gives me about 1 thou endplay. I'm leaning toward that at the moment. The .046" gives me 3 thou.

I just don't want him thinking Duramax's are the only option... he might be too deeply invested in this one though.
Don't they say you always want to go back to your first/ex?

If you think back, he had a dmax that was wrecked and totalled out by the insurance back when he first started the k30 project.

There's definitely no turning back, but I think if he's careful with the tune he'll be on easy street from here on out.

New bearings go tighter. Same ones go .003".

I shim the Mainshaft to 0 or .001 preload, it supports the weight of the clutch when you push the pedal in if you think about it. When it's spinning between gears, them front 2 bearings are getting worked. Corvette unit can probably go .001 on the Mainshaft.

Well your close the blue one was an 05 I bought that truck brand new I custom ordered it with every option I ever wanted and it was an 8.1 Allison combo and it has 60k when it went away. With the insurance money from that truck I purchased a 07 lbz with 98k it was a middle of the road truck as far as options go but it was an lbz bone stock and reliable. At 150k it was leaking from the front seal in the trans after plowing all night and a dealer came to my house with cash and bought it. That was the last reliable vehicle I owned and sense then I've been struggling to just get to work let alone go blast anything. My green 1500hd sucked and everyone told me it was because I didn't pay enough for a truck you gotta spend 20k for something good bla bla bla. So anyway I sold the green one with some....ok a lot of lipstick on that pig for 6k July 27 last year and bought this truck for 25,000 the same day. This truck had some issues when I bought it some I took care of and some I haven't yet. But I financed this 2011 and therefore I'm stuck in this bitc now! So whatever it takes to make this POS a safe reliable family car/work truck that's what I need to do. Every day I wish I bought a brand new truck and I really don't care what make because there all junk in a few years of hard work anyway. But I took this path and I've got to see it threw. Unless of course someone's giving me the 32k of my total investment to the truck and taking it off my hands so I can go buy a new one for 70k to throw it away in a few years because there all junk anymore. But dose that really sound like it makes sense? No I'm this far I'll keep throwing money at this POS and when I'm done I should have a good running fully loaded Denali HD Duramax and I can set my sweaty azz in seats with A/C

So, it *should* be a project, but, I can't make myself care enough yet to deal with it.

Now how does one get there?

Just under 123,000 unopened emails in the inbox. I hate email almost as much as social media.

So... if someone tells me in person or on the phone they sent me xyz, I'll look for it. Otherwise... meh, I generally don't care. Maybe there's a way to pick like a 15 year window worth of 'new' messages to highlight and delete en masse? Dunno. Maybe when it gets to 99% I'll do something about it. Or make a second one and put in automatic forwarding, that should be a thing.

Think about this. At 1 second a piece to click delete, you get 60 a minute, 3600 an hour, 12600 in 3.5hrs, and 126,000 in 35hours. So, accounting for dinners, hygiene, and sleep, I saved almost 3 days of my life by not dealing with that B.S. if it's 2 seconds to get rid of an email that's almost a week of lifespan.

Think about that and how much time of yours that gets wasted by 'modern convenience'

Didn't post my progress last night when I got home my brother-in-law from NC so I didn't have time.
Yesterday I covered the rest of the untreated frame in Rust-Oleum and started assembling. I started on the left head got the intake and exhaust manifolds on and the head on. Didn't torque it down yet because I couldn't find a 16mm 12 point socket. I also got the cp4.5 off and swapped the gear to the cp3 but it's not tight because I needed someone to hold the gear while I torque the nut. Today I'll probably bring it to my bey and put it in the vice. Hopefully by the end of today I have both heads on and the cp3 in.
