Spent the weekend doing more organizing. Purchased several plastic storage boxes for the shelving unit, and proceeded to fill them up.

My temporary shop library:

And last of all, my new portable 12v source for trips to the wrecking yard.

The local yards in my area prohibit full size batteries and 12v jumper packs, but they do allow battery powered tools, so this is a cheat setup to power items before I go to the effort of removing them.
I converted a USB adapter by removing the circuit board, and soldering 10 gauge wire to the tabs that plug in to the battery.

Forgot to take a pic so it doesn't really count, but I did spend some of Friday night cleaning up the garage some on the GTO side. Now for the Monte side which hopefully will be the soon to be home of the Blazer. Then I am hoping to buy a carport to stick outside to cover the GTO when it gets bumped outside

Rather than f*cking around with ballasts and retrofitting lamps and such crap I decided to go for all new lights.

Let there be light!

PXL_20210428_191035231.jpg

Added four 8' dual row LED bars to the dark side of the garage. Two are vertical in the corners (starting a foot off the floor) and two are horizontal (at about 48" from the slab) along the bay. This puts a lot of light at a useable height for working under a thing.

In retrospect 8' long was a little excessive, as I still have two more to use. Having a laser level made a huge difference in getting the finicky (and razor sharp) brackets aligned.

Here's what I bought:

Have you worked under the lift much yet? How are you liking it?

Truthfully, beyond my half assed boxing of the frame rails I haven't done much. Other than stare at stuff and occasionally wipe something with a rag or spin the front wheels.

I have a few incremental projects planned over the Summer. But, it is driving season and it is best to not wrench too much during the nice days. And bad weather keeps the cars inside to avoid washing them more than I have to. However, I figure I will make the most of it come the Fall/Winter.

I added 2 LED lights above the Monte out in the hangar today. It was the darkest corner, but now is the brightest by a long shot.

The big one is smiling here because the little one just ripped @$$.

It's insane how much it brightens the rest of the hangar. I think I'll throw 2 more above the parts Camaro and move its fluorescent back above the parts shelves. Once the hangar is mine, I'll run some conduit and j-boxes to make switched outlets for these guys. Until then it's pull chains.

I've been stuffing my new shelves pretty good.

I also have a line in a Craftsman table (butcher block top) that may go on casters in the center of the bays, behind the blast cabinet and parts washer. I've got a 3 way outlet strip on a cord to screw to the side, the metal shear will move there, and I found this badass, antique work light to clamp to it. Need to rewire with a new switch and LED bulb.

I have a dual fluorescent bulb light like that I believe it's dated from the 70's. I'll let you re-wire for me when you get yours done lol. Funny you mentioned this because I was thinking the same thing about mine. It's invaluable.
