Hey everyone havent been on in awhile. Finally getting started back on the 79 malibu wagon after buying house etc. im looking for a fiberglass cowl hood, what brand does everyone recommend options are harwood, glasstek or vfn. Also if you could pictures would be great of all sizes thanks!

20170826_101629.jpg I have a VFN. It hasn't been professionally fitted yet but its bolted on as straight as possible. Needs alittle massaging to get it lined up and everything

Harwood. My brother, my dad, and I have Harwood hoods. Every one of them fit great out of the box.

I have a Glastek 6" cowl hood on my Camar😵f which I am happy with .But I plain on down the road on going with 2" steel hood for my 1981 El Camino SS.

I had a Harwood bolt on hood on my 78 with the finished frame underneath. It took some effort to fit but the finish was good. And yes, they do get soft in the sun. I found that if I had the hood open a while in the sun, it would bend and then have a bow in the center. When I used the prop rods at the front, it would bend the corners up. I had a VFN lift off hood on my Chevelle and that hood fit very well and looked almost stock at the edges. It was finished much better than the Harwood Lift off hood I had at first.

Does anyone notice the fit changing when there cold and when the sun is beating on them (fiberglass)
My first fiberglass bolt on hood that was a single layer with bracing would raise up the front corners on hot summer days but only after driving so I feel it was really caused by engine heat, I made some bump stops and used hood pins in the front which kept it from moving.

I currently have a bolt on Harwood show series 4" cowl that fit very well from the beginning and I have never had any issues with it but if I decide to go taller I will be getting a custom made bolt on hood from Glasstek either a 6" cowl or the Sunoco style 6" hood.
