Stay away from Bondo brand, it is consumer grade crap. Evercoat is one of the better brands, you can't buy the good stuff at a chain store like Autozone or Advance Auto or even NAPA. You can get the good stuff either from a Auobody paint and supply store, or off from the internet.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but I don't believe this to be true. I talked to several body guys about this exact issue, and though they wanted to say it was crap, not one of them could think of a single instance to prove it to be true.

It's true, it's crap. But use what you want, it's your car. I'll stick to the good stuff, it sands easier and maintains better consistency throughout the process. If you don't believe me, buy some Bondo and some good stuff and compare the difference in sanding. You'll get much better results with a quality filler.

I use USC All-metal, which is basically the same as the Evercoat Metal 2Metal. just different brand...good stuff, too.
It doesn't shrink, or absorb moisture, and is a good lead substitute.

Yeah it is my car, and I'm gonna use the shitty stuff from autozone, because I like using the lowest quality products I can find on my car.

That's fine with me, we all gotta learn somehow. It's how I learned and I'm sure you will as well.

NAPA does sell Evercoat, we have it on the shelf.

They do? I guess my local NAPA doesn't stock Evercoat for some reason then.

I have heard many times that Bondo's hardner is more difficult to mix up and work into the filler. Bondo is more prone to pin holing since it traps air more. It is also harder to sand and the edges lift more easily. The chain stores mostly sell the cheaper, outdated stuff since there is a higher profit margin besides the name the noobs know. Evercoat and USC are better brands, but cost more too. Cheaper the filler, the harder and more time it will take to work it. Good fillers that cost more will take less time and be easier, and even stronger repair. Also filler is like paint, the fresher the better, so avoid dusty cans. I remember buying a can of Bondo Metal Fill from Autozone, opened it and found it went bad on their shelf. Of couse no filler will last if your body mount bushings are shot, allowing the body to flex and flop around more than normal.

I would spary the seam with epoxy primer first, then fiberglass filler, then something like Rage, after sanding spray epoxy primer to waterproof the fillers. No body filler is 100% waterproof so they must be sealed with waterproof epoxy primer.

Yep, we also have the USC stuff that Jack referred to. You're store may just be an independent that doesn't want to stock it, but they can get it.

I use all evercoat stuff. Never had a problem with the metal to metal. If it is prepped right, and not ten inches thick, you'll be good.

You could always apply the metal to metal, then the glass hair, finished with rage gold.
