Guys, I bought new clutches for my 2004R because my steels are great. What is the normal grade paper transmission guys use to scuff the steels? I used 400 grit on my old 2004R I did years ago. I'm out of 400 but have 600 here. I'm no pro transmission guy but 600 seems too light

Apples and oranges, but I used 150 on my gear cones and 320 on the syncros.
Hooptiewagon said he uses a brown RoLok in slush box steels. He used to build professionally.

I used 320 and WD40 on my cones and syncros. Drove all the way to my trailer, then my house from around the corner. Just enough to break the glaze. Like Fleming, I can't say if it was ideal or not. Roloc sounds way easier for you as those steels will have lugs.

Piece of glass and 600 grit will do just fine sand in one direction and kiss your fingertips goodbye
