I have a sbc was told it was a lt out of a 70's ish vette the castingin the back is 3970018 and it has camel hump heads on it is anyone can help me thanks

If it's 3970010 , nothing special just a smog era low compression 350. Camel hump heads are great for putting on a shelf. Do a compression check on it and if it passes, put it in your car. A 160hp 350 sure is better than a 160hp 305.

An easy 300HP, after that it gets expensive to keep those heads. A decent set of heads and a 383 kit from Skip hite and you'll be making 450 easily, but it will be at the $3500 mark with machining.

Nothing wrong with that, comes down to your budget.

As driven said the stamped #'s will tell the story. I think you will find the 8 is really a 0

all that's corvette isn't necessarily gold... mid to late 70's corvettes only had about 190 hp from the factory... also check the casting #'s on the heads, some had "hump" castings on the front of the heads, but were often mistaken for the good ones...
