I've got a couple questions that I hope someone can respond.

e a 1987 EL Camino. I am about to do the Blazer dual piston front brake upgrade. I have all the parts and rebuilt the brakes. I have also acquired a set of 2012 Camaro 18" wheels. Of course the offset is wrong for my ElCamino. After some discussions and actual measuring , it appears that a 1/14" spacer can be used to put the wheels in the correct position in the wheel wells.

But when trying to buy spacers, the supplier came back that the EL Camino is 5x4-3/4" (metric measurement 5x120.65) bolt circle and the Camaro wheels are 5x120 and will NOT work with just spacers. Of course adapters are not available for this small change.

Also the El Camino wheels are hubcentric and spacers are not.... the Camaro wheels have a bevel and wont match up to spacers with a hubcentric provision.

Can I use 5X4-3/4" lugcentric spacers? Is it safe?

That is a difference of 0.65mm or 0.02559" of overall diameter.

Or, a difference of about this:

I think you would be fine, but the Straight Answer is no, they aren't the same size.

sheer stress on a bolt is never fine. How could you get proper torque on a wheel nut when an unknown amount of force is needed to attempt to force the wheel stud into place. There is a reason they have wheels in 120 and 120.7 wheel bolt patterns to fit each pattern.

I'm about to get flamed for this, but...

I am running 5 on 120 wheels on my Malibu. I was worried at first but took a chance. I have never had a wheel nut come loose, and when I re-torque I don't get any more spin on the nuts. You do notice the difference when spinning the nuts on by hand. I will gently seat all 5 (and I mean gently, spin it on until it just touches the wheel,) then i'll seat them all a little better, probably around 50-60lbs, then torque to spec.

Last year I was putting 100 miles a day on this car for about 3 months, no issues at all. The first few weeks after putting these wheels on i was checking the torque all the time just in case.

I guess what I'm saying is; It worked for me, but try at your own risk!
