This little black box is located under the hood on the passenger fender. What is it for, what does it do? Do they ever need repair, like cause your accessories not to work? Maybe a dumb question but I cannot find a photo or anything on the web about it.

Thanks

Mac

What is it for? No vacuum to it.
The Map sensor provides manifold pressure to the CCC. The meas is used to calculate air density and air flow rate. This info is used to determine the optimum primary carb fuel metering while cruising. I believe that the CCC also uses it ti adjust the ignition timing while cruising.

There are two modules there, the ESC module which operates the spark advance in conjuction with the ECM. The second module is either the vacuum sensor or the Baro sensor depending on ths model year. If there is a vacuum line going to the sensor, it is a vacuum sensor. Vacuum sensors are different from MAP sensors as they read inverse.
