What is this switch for?

This switch/sensor is connected to a vacuum line on the engine (V6) which one of the wires goes to the green connector on the th200 transmission. Can someone tell me what this switch is for? And what the green connector is controlling in the transmission? Thank you.

That is the vacuum switch to work the lock up feature of your transmissions lock up converter since you don't have a computer in your car.

Interesting...my transmission has never locked any of the times I drove it, always shifted nicely but never locked even on highway speeds. Thanks for the reply!

With a V8, mine mainly locks up on a downhill. Perhaps a V6 has to work to hard for the vacuum to trip the switch?

There's a pretty rigid set of parameters that have to be just right on the vacuum-operated lockup. I could see if there were any non-functioning parts (cracked or open or plugged vacuum hose, bad TVS, etc) the lockup wouldn't function as designed.

I'll have to look into this issue. Wasn't there a version of the th200 without the lockup?

I have the same switch I tested mine and I think it’s failed.

If I remember right I pulled vacuum and checked for continuity and never got it. So it appeared frozen internally.

Do you know how much vacuum actuates the switch?
