What oil dipstick

I have a sbc 406 and the stock oil dipsticks that i tried will not fit tight ,anyone know what oil dipstick I need that will fit tight in the block hole?

What is it doing that it does not fit right?

Any SBC dipstick should work

Most matched dipstick/tubes for a '79 & older should work. Wish I remembered the GM p/n for the one I got for my 350.

Usually the tube is a tight fit and needs to be gently tapped into the block, I have always used an aftermarket chrome one for SBC.

Are you sure you have the right dipstick tube?, in those years they were a 2 piece

this is the lower
