What size cams work with the 87 CCC on a 442?

I plan on looking at and hopefully buying a 87 442, I would leave the 307 in for a least one year. I have a 9 to 1 compression Olds 350 in my 70S, runs very nice and is maybe 100 hp/torque ahead of the Vin 9 motor. It has a 214/214 Erson custom cam, I think the biggest issue is the 110 lsa. I know the 87 CCC has a retarded amount of timing. I ran 22 base timing, I didn't double check the mechanical curve but was running a 30 degree vacuum can off manifold vacuum. The only issue was bucking at low speeds, no pinging. Who has run bigger motors with a 87 442 and the stock prom?

I'm interested to see how this works out for you. I'm planning on doing a 403 swap in the future with my 442 (like you it probably won't happen for at least a year), I will most likely bypass the computer and reroute wiring to maintain A/C & the lockup for the trans. I had found a wiring diagram online but can't find it at the moment.

If I don't run the CCC on the 403; I'll either use the Q-jet from the 403 or if I can swing it; I'll put on a FiTech unit. I've already got a new proform HEI to put on the motor.

Money is too tight right now with two daughters in University. Honestly, I should have bought this car 5 years ago before it had noticeable rust and holes for the same asking price from the last owner.

Not sure about Olds, but Chevy CCC systems can run on cams with 110 degree LSA as some of the emission legal, computer friendly aftermarket cams have tight LSAs like that.

Post back when you pick it up this weekend
I wish that was the case, the car still looks pretty good but now has a sagging headliner and rust issues, including one hole. I should have bought it the last time around, no rust but it is nearly all original. The trans in my 70S is really acting up bad after sitting all winter, at minimum a $200 junkyard trans, no room and will have no time for a proper rebuild. Hopefully he has a TH350C trans for it, although the BOP version seems pretty rare.

210/212 is about as far as you can go from what I've been told... stock 83-85 VIN9 cam has a 196/208 109LSA @.050 cam.
Good to know, I would try the 350 as is. The TBI in the 94 Z71 I had had similar requirements and the 204/214 cam ran OK. I wish I pulled the trigger the last time this car was for sale, too much additional work for the same price. If he drops it another $1000-$1500, I may consider it.
