I know it’s a dumb question, but my friend has had this engine sitting in the garage since we were in middle school that came out of a box Chevy…I’m sure it’s a small block but not sure the bore size, it has a different intake manifold as well as a carb… well to say the least he gave it to me! He doesn’t know what’s wrong with it but that’s for me to find out. But first just wanted to see if there’s anything you guys could identify specifically just with the photos I was able to take of it.
I have a lot of new bolt ons already on my 305 in my Malibu which im gonna transfer over to this one if it comes out clean with no cracks or or other stuff…

The heads are 1987+, The block is 86 and earlier.
You need the numbers stamped on the pad behind/under the alternator. To know what the heads are you need to pull a valve cover and get the casting number and date code.

Found the block cast numbers! Added carb and head pictures if anyone has details on those. And comes with MSD spark plug wires that need a cleaning 👍🏻
