My 87 has a very tired v6. I am going to replace it with a buick 350. Leaning toward Gran National front springs thoughts?

Grand Nationals had V6's. If you want stock look I would use a set of replacement Cutlass V8 springs.

You might want to try just leaving the V-6 springs in and see how it goes. I still have the V-6 springs in mine.

Olss v8 weighs 110 pounds more than a buick v8 . .A Buick v8 only weighs 75 pounds more than Buick v6. Do not know how much the turbo and accessories adds to the weight of a v6

I will leave the front springs for now. When I get the the rest done, I will need to replace them as they are sagging with v6. 150,000 on her

Remeber not all GN's were intercooled. I do know there is a weight difference, I currently have a set of buick engines 74 455, 69 350 and 85 3.8
Anyways I would still use the cutlass v8 replacement springs since you didnt say if you wanted a stock look or lowered.

The Turbo/intercooler GN V6 weighs maybe 10-15 lbs more than a Non turbo V6 with the same accessories. It has a AL intake and lighter weight exhaust manifolds. The Aluminum intercooler is pretty light. I don't see how it can be more than 40 lbs.

A/C /no A/C would be a larger weight difference.

A Buick V8 without A/C would probably work fine with GN springs.

Unless the Buick has aluminum heads, water pump etc. I have a hard time believing that an Olds 307 weighs 110 lbs more than a Buick 350.

Here are the Buick 350 weights from a Jeep Forum:

Heads (fully assembled) - 57 lbs. each
Stock 4Bbl. intake manifold with EGR, water outlet, etc.- 60 lbs.
Both driver's and passenger's exhaust manifolds - 23 lbs.
Rochester 4 Bbl carb - 10 lbs.
Harmonic balancer, crank pulley, valve covers, head gaskets, fuel pump, HEI distributor, pushrods, lifters, headbolts - 26 lbs.
Starter - 16 lbs.
Alternator - 8 lbs. (estimated?)
Front brackets, alternator, p.s. pump, etc. - 11 lbs.

These items total 268 lbs, not including a power steering pump of 9 lbs.

The Short block weighs. 273 lbs

Total without A/C: 550 lbs.

Aluminum intake/Headers would be about 520 without A/C.
