Does anyone know what this part is called its on a 307 v8 engine on a 1988 Cutlass supreme classic

It looks a LOT like the vacuum valve that Pontiac used on 301's. Is it hooked up to the distributor vacuum advance on one side and ported and manifold vacuum on the other? If so it's a cool little device I use on 400's too. It gives 10" of manifold vacuum to the distributor advance at all times upon warmup. Then it gives ported vacuum as rpm's rise. Really smooths out the idle. If it's not, then never mind.

its called the vacuum advance - distributor. what it does was explained above. its available at most parts stores for about $30
