wheel and tire fitment for 79 GP

Hey guys been searching for wheels on the ride. I was wondering if a 17x8 wheel would fit for the fronts and if so what backspacing? Does anyone have 17x8 wheels on their GP? Also what tire size and if they rub. thanx!

17 x 8 will work. 4.5" backspace front and rear. 245/45/17. should not be any rubbing issues BUT a steering box change can fix that. f-bodies used a box with wider stops to prevent tire rub. this means a slightly bigger turning radius but nothing really noticeable.
