I have a 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass. I am looking to 20" staggered Rev Classic 100 Anthracite wheels on the car. I need to know the backspacing and tire size that would work. Also would I need spacers? I have searched the site for the answer and either I did not see it or do not understand. Thanks in advance .

Max wheel backspacing of 4.5" should fit w/o a hitch. I don't know the tire size as I've never had 20s on a G-body. Avoid using spacers/adapters at all cost.

The ideal offset is about +5mm in front and about -7mm in back. These numbers are close to zero, so Zero offset wheels wheels generally work with a "square" set up, as long as the wheel width isn't much more than 8".

If you upgrade to "big brakes" in front, these generally push the the front end out about 9-11 mm, so this would make the ideal offset in front about 15mm, which pushes the difference in ideal offset from the front to back to almost 1" (21-23 mm difference vs. 25.4mm = 1 inch), which is about the minimum wheel adapter width..

With a staggered set, you don't have to worry about a compromise offset, so look for wheels with zero to -10 in back and Zero to +10 in front.

As you go up in width of wheel (above 8") and tire (above 225 in front, 255 in back), the ideal offset range narrows.

Somehow I never added mine to this thread. Running 275/35/18 on all four corners, frame is notched to seam, has RideTech front suspension. Wheels are 18x9.5" with 5.25" backspacing. No rubbing at all.

I had E/T drag 29.5X9/15 on 87 442 rims on the beach of my 87 Cutlass with 1/2" spacers. They rubbed just a little on the inner wheel house in the front where the back seat is but they wore in. Lol that count?

I would like to run 15x8 AERO wheels on the front of my cutlass and 15x10 on the rear if possible. Does anyone know what backspacking would work front and rear on that setup and a ballpark on the tire size? I was thinking 3 inch backspacking on the rear but want to make sure im not going to rub anywhere. The front im guessing is about the same, have to admit rim and tire fitting is not one of my strengths

After much research and reading all the discussions about wheels and fitments, I used 18" 2012 Camaro wheels with an aluminum 1-1/4" adapter/spacer along with 245 -45 -18". These fit without rubbing or problems.

Replaced 255 -60 - 15" mounted on Chevy Rally wheels. These had numerous problems that required 1/4" spacers, still rubbed at turns and end of driveway turns.

Nope, only way 7.5" BS gonna fit our cars is with stupid wide adapters (2-3/4" at least) or a minitub.
I'm running a 17x7 front with 4" BS and a 225/50/17 and a 17x8 rear with 4.5" BS and a 255/45/17. Fitment is perfect, no rubbing.
