Hello all

I’ve searched through a couple posts but couldn’t find a good answer to go off of. My 85 Regal with a 6.0 LS swap is almost done getting new axles and third member etc. I ordered the Gbody Parts GnX wheels in 18x9 and 19x9.5 setup and I’m looking to do the Toyo R888R on them but the recommended tire size is
255/35R-18 Front
285/30R-19 Rear
My question is Toyo only makes a 285/35r19 not a 30, with my 9” rear would I be ok running a 295/30 or try to get the 285/35 to work?

That is a very big tire. Alot of the answer to your question will depend on your rear suspension set up and intended usage.

It's taller but not that far off (<1") from an OE dimension as far as height goes.

A 285/30-19 is ~25.73" tall (3.36" sidewall height). A common OE performance replacement size of 235/60-15 is approx. 26.1" (5.55" sidewall height).
The proposed 285/35-19 is approx. 26.85" tall. It also has a 3.92" sidewall height which is much more forgiving on pothole plagued road surfaces.

Fit of the taller combo will depend on the current available space (what the clearances are w/how the car is currently set-up). We can all guess. You can get out there w/a tape measure & do some investigating which will make it easier to visualize possible issues.

Thank you for the replies, the tire sizes were what I’ve found from other people running the same setup but I’m not opposed to other sizes. It’s mainly gonna be a loud cruiser. Suspension is pretty much stock, will be getting there qa1 package soon but cars in the shop right now and my finger is itching to get the tires so I can install them as soon as the car comes back

Height is not too big of a problem since ride height will usually fix this. The big issue is the side to side movement of the triangulated 4 link set up. The rears in these cars move sideways alot when they are loaded in a turn.
Pretty much as much as you can compress a bushing. If you crush it 1/4", it will move sideways about 1/2". Since most of us are not sideways loading a G body like a an autocross car. There still is articulation.

When an axle articulates, the tire swings inwards in an arc. Clearance to inner fenderwell and frame will disappear quickly. Even if your clearance passed the tape measure test, real world driving reduces that.
