So I picked up a set of 16" Iroc Camaro rims. The plan is to run them on my 82 Prix with 245/50-16 rubber front and back.

I realize these are staggered offset wheels so the plan is to run the front wheels on the front of the Prix, and the rears on the rear with spacers. I understand I need about a 1" bolt-on adapter for this. Personally I'd love to see the rear wheels come out towards the fenders more and the adapters will certainly help with this.

Wheel adapters get a LOT of bad press at the tire shop I work at. The way I see it though, it's not much different than having wheels with a more negative offset/less backspacing or even having a longer axle. I don't see it as an issue because they'll be on the rear axle.

Any thing I need to worry about with using adapters besides the obvious of torquing them properly?
What brand do most people use?

This is what I'm looking at right now.

I'm also eyeing these up right now too: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance- ... 2/10002/-1

Ebay has some too, but I'm pretty hesitant about buying something like this there even though the price is very nice.

I also just noticed that summit won't ship out that first one I pointed out until sometime in May if order today. Other places have them in stock but there around $130 for a set of 2.

The wheels marked front stick out further than the wheels marked rear. Anyone who runs them puts fonts on rear and rear on fronts to get th appearance you are looking for.

My bro had those adapters. They are cast and cracked right down the center. Wheels separating from the car is a high possibility with those.

I have 16" irocs on my cutty with the ebay spacers(1.25" I think) on the rear. Nothing on the fronts. I have had them on my car for about 4 years, no problems. Also use them with my chrome 18s. And believe me, I have put them to the test.

Doesn't that require the use of 4 adapters though? Good to know to avoid those adapters.

I'll have to see about those ebay adapters then. The Cutlass looks good.

find yourself a 64 to 67 Chevelle rear. They are 2.5" wider then the G body rear so you won't have to use spacers and you'll keep the wheels on the car.

I have a set of the 16" GTA 'doily' rims, same problem. I have used 1-1/4" adapter/spacers on another car that have lugs built into them. These are OK because they are unlikely loosen up as the lugs stretch. However, I need more like 3/4" and I have not found this type of spacer in this thinner width. Finding two more front GTA rims is highly unlikely these days.

Wet plants is too funny.

Here is a link:

Whenever using spacers NEVER and I do mean NEVER buy the cheap crap that is sold. You are dealing w/ your wheels, this is not a place to be buying cheap!

I have used (and still do) spacers with NO issues. I only used the billet spacer/adapters and I replace the lug studs w/ ARP studs. Remember your cars studs are at or close to 30yrs old and were not factory designed for abuse(ie. increased loads).

Good idea about the studs.
The price on those looks pretty good. Shipping really kills it though; close to $80 though that's still cheaper than some of the alternatives.

These look pretty good to me: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Chevrolet-S10 ... b1&vxp=mtr

I also found hubcentric adapters: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-0-5x4-75-to-5 ... 31&vxp=mtr

That second link doesn't specifically state what type of aluminum though; all it says is cnc machined aluminum. I'm leaning towards the first one because of that.

edit: also what length stud would you go with for a 1" adapter?
