I have an "87 el Camino. I am using a set of old rally wheels 15x7 with a 4 1/4 backspacing. Had to add another 1/4" spacer to use 255x60x15 tires. I would like to upgrade to rear disk brakes and 18" wheels. Can I use modern OEM Camaro wheels? What spacer should be used? Tire size?

thanks

Camaros 92 and up run alot of Backspacing adapters will be needed.. 2" rings a bell don't quote me on that
I'm running 275/40/17 on 17*9 with 5" F/R no frame did put a 1/4-5/16 space on the rear
That 5" is roughly limit for front with OEM suspension.. probably get more with tube upper/lower A arms..
Definitely get another 1-2" with rear frame notch for 10-11" wide rims which could push 315-335 wide tires
Also i have tube upper/lower links and frame bracing on the rear so minimal side to side movement

275/35/18 on all four corners. Frame is notched to the seam, have tubular control arms on the front. No rubbing at all.

My E92 rims want 1.75" spacers in the front with UMI tubular A arms and 1.25" in the rear un-notched frame. 8.5" wide front, 9.5 wide rear. Backspace will be close to modern F-body +38mm or so.

This is one of my old elco. It was a 17x10.5 , torque thrust with a 315/35/17 nitto drag radials. It was 4th gen Fbody fitment with 2” billet adaptor. No frame notch no rolled lip. I feel like Elcos have the biggest rear tubs. This pic is with the back loaded stuff when I was moving to another shop. Never rubbed. The car also had LS1 rear disk setup.

Here’s a couple more. Though not of the wheels installed but you can see how wide they are.

I just ordered my spacers for the front.

With my E92 Rims I will be
18x8.5" front with 4.25" BS or -12mm
18x9.5" rear with 5" BS or -6mm

I have a few small spacers to fine tune but my plan is 245-265 wide 26" tall fronts and 275-295 wide 26" or so tall. I haven't pulled the trigger on tires yet but i have measured pretty extensively on this and in a Regal with no notch this will fit with a UMI 2" drop and tubular fronts.

Hope this helps you make some decisions.
