When did the Regals start illuminating the passenger side Buick dash emblem?

My 85" Regal dash looked just like my 86' Regal dash but the 86' passenger side Buick lights up and I think it is the coolest thing was my 85' just not functioning?

My '85 has it. Love it. Got that weird greenish blue tint to it. I had a radio (assume stock one) with orange display and bought another to match the bluegreen. Looks great at night.

It does go off and on during the early morning or twilight but once it's dark and the sun is completely down it'll stay on. I think there is a sensor somewhere but I have no idea where it could be.

I recall back 25 years ago when I owned a Limited Regal with the "T" option that it had the illuminated dash feature. Was really cool thinking back on it. My current Limited Regal does not have the illuminated dash feature. Therefore, this must be an option and not just a feature that was equipped in Limited Regals.

My Regal is an 85 Limited. No special packages that I'm aware of. Lost what was left of the buildsheet unfortunately. It was a stock LD5 NA 3.8 and TH200c car though. Nothing special.

I think GM had those emblems made in Chernobyl and the bluishgreen glow is a natural byproduct.....
