That's the thing cant remember I had just replaced the 305 that cracked with this 350 from a 96 Silverado( was a 229 v6 to start life the base base model)was enjoying a drive on a 100+ day when the e fans went out blew a gasket,so I started body work till I found a replacement, then 12 years pass and I'm back, motor still bad I didn't come back home for awhile so it sat out exposed but I'm back at it again

Best option it got was the gas shocks it the trunk, no power locks/windows you know nothing convenient. Was moving it and it fell off death trap dolly so I had to change the door on the driver side so it's replacement was power, I bought a whole car to part out, really nice 4.3 from az turned out it was cracked too it was crying out aluma seal but I had just got it for parts I needed damn I was dumb then should of kept it too, interior is rotted out my dog dug out the seat while I was gone so I got some cutlass buckets to replace them there soso

Another '81, nice. Some advice on those trunk shock is to put a plate at the bolt holes or the washers will cut (if not done already) holes in the trunk lid as they twist when the trunk lid opens & closes. They are stronger & last longer than what was originally used at the begaining on the '81 production but are destructive to the lid, had to replace two of them cause of those.

Congrats on getting back on your project! That trunk shock is the first time I have ever seen that!!! Was it an option?

They were a "fix" for the weaker/short life shocks that the Chevy engineers thought was a good idea to use instead of the torsion springs that they went back to in '83.
