Looking for recommendations on a chip for the ECM

86 Olds 307 VIN9

Ive got everything ready to go except a PROM.

Ive seen the Hypertech and Jet chips out there. Should I stick with a stock chip? or get an aftermarket one?
What have you used/what have you done?

recommendations?

Thanks!

Those chips don't really do squat. Unless you're getting one for free don't bother.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like a used, stock PROM is the way to go.

I have to get something, as the ECM I have has no chip.

I really appreciate the feedback.

PROMS chips are different year to year. There may be differences between ones of the same year too. Because of that you can't just pop any old chip in your ECM and have it work. You would be better off getting a new ECM with the matching PROM already in it.
