Assuming 15" tires most Gbody's fit a 275/60 or 255/60 depending on rim width and correct backspacing without a frame notch.
Lowered ride height also affects tire width.
The best way is to measure off what you already have then get the specs for the brand and size tire you are looking at.

Or find a buddy with similar size wheel/tire combo, try them on your car, take some measurements, and go from there. Some claim a 275/40-17 will fit my car, but I have less than 5/16" clearance on each side with 255/45-17's on a 17"x9" wheel- 275/40 is currently a no-go with lowered height, 9" wheel, and no fender well mods.

Depends on the car. An 84 Monte Carlo has more room than an 80 Cutlass - by 1/2". 275/60R15 fit in the 80 Cutlass and and easily in the 84MC .

Really depends. I've 275 50-15, 275-60-15, 275-45-17, all on a gbody. I rolled the lip though. Also, alot of these gbody have work out body mounts and no longer sit square on the frame, so clearance on one side may differ from the other. I've had this happen more than once.

What's the backspace on your rims?
