My el camino tilt column has that old wiggly feeling. Back in the day, we used to repair these columns all the time when the cars were stolen/recoveries. That was about 20-25 yrs ago. I'm trying to remember what causes the looseness between the shift bowl and lock housing. Not sure if need to find some replacement parts but would rather have what I need before I tear into it. Thanks in advance.

There are 4 bolts with E8 heads that attach the upper column housing to the support assembly; they are a PITA to get at as much of the steering column has to be disassembled.
