Cooper and BF Goodrich both have a maximum rim width recommendation of 8.5" for a 255/70R15

I currently have 26x10.5-15 MT ET DOT slicks on 15x10 rims. They have a 10.5" side wall and look fine but are only recommended for a 9" wide rim max. The 255 only have a 10" section width and may be hit somewhere being so tall, they will sit different. You can probably run them around town, at speed may be risky. A 275/60R15 is more appropriate with an 11.5" section width, still only recommended for a 9.5" wide max rim and 28" tall. I am going to run them on my 10" wide rims.

255s are a bit narrow for a 10 inch rim. You're better to step up to a 275 width. I've run 275/60/15 on a 15X10 for 25 years.

What backspacing and offset are your wheels? I’d like to run that size on my Elco

Full disclosure, these wheels were custom ordered for another car where I ran them for 10 years. During that cars rebuild and subsequent swap to new wheels, I ran them on my 77 Grand Prix with zero issues for another 10+ years. When I got the wagon I swapped them to that.

Backspacing is 4.75" and I had to do the frame notch and also trim and roll the fender lips. I still get a little contact on the one side when I'm hauling a heavy load like the 1,000 pounds of concrete I hauled home a few weeks ago.

You need to get everything bang on to get a 10" rim on a G body, pretty dam tight. My 70S Cutlass, I have room to spare.
