Does anyone know if there's companies out there that lazer cut window tint kits for our vehicles? Most of the ones I see are for late model cars.

Good question, I have never seen any. I usually just cut it out myself. 🙂

Jim,
I'll probably end up cutting mine out as well...unless I get a good deal from a tint shop. There's a few more windows to tint on a wagon than a coupe or sedan.
I just thought if you can buy pre- cut pieces, it would go smoother. It's not difficult, but does require patience.

I was also wondering if it would be easier to tint all the glass before installing it? I guess I could lay it on a work table and do it that way. It's probably a lot more comfortable. I wouldn't have to contort myself doing it in the car.

Has anybody ever done it this way?

Thanks man!
El Caminos are a lot more popular than wagons, so I could understand kits being more readily available for them.

Were you able to get the body on your El Camino straightened out?

Jack, I had contemplated doing the rear side glass like that, but I am afraid of not getting it just right with the glue ya know? But the door glass, I do that with the glass out of the car. MUCH easier to clean and apply.

Jim,
You've got a point there. You don't want the tint surface to contact the pinch weld. I guess it could affect the bond. It does make sense to do the door glass off the car, though. Sometimes you need to hear from someone else.

I had my doors, rear quarters, and rear window all done out of the car. I took them to the tint shop to have them done. It only cost like 150. He did say that he prefers doing them in the car. He said that when they are out you have to worr about it moving around or holding it up, and if you lay it down to tint, you run the risk of having things just fall onto the glass and end up in the tint.

Try going to a local place around you. It should not cost more then 140 to do it or go to a pepboys and buy the roll of tint. I can not imagine it being hard to put it on a wagon. The only car it would be hard to do is an El Camino since the back window is curved and not flat like most cars.

Thanks guys!
It's not that difficult doing the glass on the wagon...just that there's more glass area to contend with.
I think they might get a little more $ to do a wagon as compared to a coupe or sedan.

Several years ago, I had my Olds Ciera 4-dr done at a tint shop. If I recall, it cost me $175.00 at the time. I might have paid too much, but they did a smokin' job, and it's got a lifetime guaranty. They use a better quality tint than what you buy at the local auto parts stores. That Gila stuff is crap.
