I have a rear aftermarket sway bar installed on my 78 Cutlass. It presently has standard bolts with no spacer installed in the control arm. Apparently these should be the larger diameter metric bolts. I think the standard bolts have rounded out the holes so I am hoping installing the correct metric diameter and spacers will tighten up the slack.

If anyone has the correct rear sway bar bolts and spacer or knows where I can purchase them, it is appreciated. Funny how you can get the hardware for the front sway bar, but not for the rear separately.

Thanks.

check this thread. A lot of good advice and suggestions on building spacers.

Here's some orginals:

Thanks I am checking that out. The Adco bar I bought has just a tube the bolt when through. These look OEM and much better. I am right now not getting any income in, so I am just minimally keeping this car going until I figure what I am going to do. Thanks again.

Make a set if you got a welder. Made these out of a few gate hinges over 25 years ago.

I think GM used to make the spacers out of old gate hinges from the plants that they shut down and scrapped.... :)

Bolts and nuts are GM part numbers (bolt) 11508039 (M10 x 1.50 x 65- shows discontinued), and (M10 x 1.50 nut) 11517996, need 4 of each.

Lower arm spacers are GM part number 10000097, need 2. (discontinued from GM, but out there in secondary market)

Shims are GM part number 10000099 (discontinued from GM, but out there in secondary market)

Lower control arm is part number 10000063 or 10081635 (discontinued from GM, but out there in secondary market), need 2 per car.

Here's a set of 10081635. Only $350.00

I see by your last post that you have already gotten the spacers you need.
I did the same as bracketchev1221 did. I cut some pipe to fit, allowing enough clearance to add a large washer at each end of the pipe to spread the footprint of the bolt torque for an extra reduction in the possibility of crushing the control arm.
