those 50 series are stout.the general idea is that any chambered muffler will probably be louder than it's "turbo' style counterpart that has fiberglass like the magna flow's
that 409 grade is a lesser grade of stainless,its what you find on some later model rides.the 304 grade is going to be more expensive but you get what you pay for.
i agree.the end result is all relative to the given time frame when cars are being produced. the paint/products/methods/practices/conditions etc etc.then what was acrylic enamel & or lacquer with whatever undercoat that was on hand has become something far different in the past 30 plus...
