    Th200c problems

I must have a decent -200(knock on wood). The one in my '84 GP is still ok after being rebuilt in 1996. Its got almost 90k on the rebuild. It must've gotten a little recalibration because the WOT upshifts are nice and quick. The only issue that seems unusual is first gear had a bit of a low...

    Adjusting Carbuerator ????

This. I had the benifit of an old Snap-on red box scanner which quickly pointed out a lazy o2. My m/c was bad, too. I had intermittent check engine light that would come on when the car would idle and turn off a few seconds after either goosing it or driving away. The carb was leaking and must...

The Junkyard Interchange and Rarities Thread

AFIK G frames are what make it a 'G'. As in, they are interchangable across the line. There wasn't a situation like 94-96 B cars where the caddy got its own lengthed Fleetwood version (a 'D' body).

5000 + mile road trip in a 28 year old Pontiac

I am a big fan of cruise.. But on this car, the return spring pressure is pretty easy to manage. My mpg was pretty consistant.. 21-22 @ 70. My extremes were 18(hill climbs) and 28(tail wind?). The box was designed was designed in the 'double nickel' days. And a 200M/2.41 is still not as relaxed...

5000 + mile road trip in a 28 year old Pontiac

The reason for the trip was to be a part of my youngest brother's Air Force commissioning ceremony. I had to drive because I couldn't book the airfare in time. Plus I enjoy road trips. The '84 was given to me because nobody seemed to be able to fix it. It ended up being a way for...

5000 + mile road trip in a 28 year old Pontiac

To put this in perspective, It would be like accomplishing this feat in a 1956 model in 1984. The car is completly stock. It is basic. No cruise or tilt. It has good AC and thats about it. During this trip, I only saw a handful of cars from the same era..an occasional box mopar or LTD. It's not...

5000 + mile road trip in a 28 year old Pontiac

The route: 0000 The car: The destination: Stuff and various scenes along the way: Typical Atlanta But usually it looked like this(near Vernon Texas) Glen Canyon/Colorado River A Garmin screen shot; Looking north...Hood is in Colorado, trunk in Utah. San Jon/Tucamcari,NM on what was...

What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

Finally fixed that wobbly sounding noise coming from the rear end. I started chasing it almost two years ago after I got the car.I threw a set of spiders at it, & replaced u-joints/rebalanced drive shaft.I thought It was in the carrier or pinion. The solution was actually in replacing the...

"What-if" cars. Building a dream Gbody. Play along!

1981 2 door Malibu An 'export' 350 A/C delete Police spec cooling /electrical. F41 suspension. An 8.5 rear/3.08's what ever manual transmission they used in vettes that year. A 15x8 wheel with a decent 235/60-15 performance tire... probably off of a z28.

    Improving the exsisting engine performance.

By 'in spec', It wouldn't have rated warranty work in 1984. A turbo would be kinda cool if it had the rest of the SEFI GN stuff to go with it.

    Improving the exsisting engine performance.

You may be correct. Starting at the rear may produce the best results. I experienced good results when I replaced the 2:41s in my Malibu with 3:42s. But one thing I would do if I go this route with the Grand Prix is replace the 200M with a 200 4R. I retained the THM 350C when I did the gear...

    Improving the exsisting engine performance.

I'm not looking for a specific x output. I have actual 'fast' cars for that. I'm interested in working around the edges of what is already in place. The car is to remain smog compliant, at least visually. A roller cam reduces frictional loss. I would try to get a grind that would not radically...

    Improving the exsisting engine performance.

I am interested in how much room there is in factory setup for simple(and not so simple) tweakes using updated technology to increase the output and efficiency of what GM has already in place in terms of compatibility with the archaic engine managemanet. Can the static compression be raised? If...

My 81's frame rails are fine.. The drip rails, not so much... or the dash.... or the lower corners of the rear glass..
