Mexican Monte Carlo SS - VIN number decoding

Thanks for the post ve3oky, it really helps because it shows standard features that I would be hard to confirm (like the 5.7L)!

    About the mexican Carlo

Yeah I did drive it from the border to Philadelphia, it was an adventure to say the least! I will tell more as I find it out. All I know is that it has a 350cu engine, 4 speed saginaw trans, Dana 44 rear, pontiac gp dash, and came stock with checkerboard rims (I have one in the trunk as a spare...

Hey guys... after reading your posts I feel like I have to hide my Monte jajaja. I have the SS you all are talking about and I am trying to figure out if that 350 was rated at 260 or 200hp without dynoing (car is currently under repair after driving it from Nuevo Laredo Mx to Philadelphia lol)...

how many Monte SS's were made in 84?

No worries SkulledMonte84, I get what you mean. It is coolest (at least to me) because it is the only example that came with a 350 cu. and 4 speed transmission from the Factory. The cars (200 in total) were originally used by Chevrolet to qualify their new Monte Carlo Nascar entry hence the...

    Manual transmissions in the Montes

I did not have trouble because the vin starts with a 1 (If i remember correctly). This indicates that the car was made in the states and exported to Mexico, not built entirely in Mexico. It was like returning an american car to the US. No fuss. I am in the Philly area but will be moving to the...
