my pet peeve for this forum is when clicking outside links, it opens the new link up in the same tab
i hate having to hit the back button several times to get back to the forum, when i could just close the tab
i went with the mass backing carpet also. I also picked a slightly darker tan/brown color than what came on the stock tan interior cars. Looks great.
Was a b*tch to install though. I did it in the spring when it wasnt very hot out so the sun wouldn't heat it up enough to remove the folds from...
seems i learn something new every time i work on it or go on here, concerning this 231
i never knew about the external-ish oil pump on the 231, till this past weekend
one of the older guys at the car-care/self-help shop, knows his sh*t, even he never heard of that. He thought I was bullshitting
i had no idea. I seriously had to google that to see
This is my first iron-headed GM motor that didn't have gaskets, that I've found.
I figured with the build quality GM was putting out back in the Gbody era, there is no way they would attempt to machine the manifold surfaces enough to run them...
thats gonna be a cool *ss sedan when done
did your sedan come with a factory rear swaybar?
I just found out mine has the F41 bars front and rear. I dont think I've ever seen a base-model supreme with them before.
Did some work on my car, had to pull the PS exhaust manifold. There was no gasket. Yeah, that sounds legit.
I was shocked cause it didn't have a noticeable leak.
They also used about a whole tube of red RTV to seal the connection from the I-pipe to the cat.
Oil pressure sender was cracked, so...
i wouldve just done struts. Usually, used worn out struts off a 3rd or 4th gen fbody, hold up a normal trunk just fine, unless the strut has completely failed or blown out
thats a slap in the face
craftsmen used to be good hand tools, in my opinion
my dad still has craftsman ratchets from 40+ years ago, that have never broken or been rebuilt, and still work good.
I have some craftsmen ratchets that are quality built, and some of the newer asian ratchets that look...
whoops, never posted the fix
i dont know exactly what fixed it, but I found another vacuum line tore up, that I missed, and replaced that.
Then I pulled the cap off the dist. and there was corrosion inside on the contacts and the rotor arm, so cleaned that......i didn't find any moisture inside...
my 87 and 85 cutlass sedans had the same fender as you have pictured above
im pretty sure all 78-87 cutlass sedan fenders and hoods are interchangeable
so the header panel on a 78-80 should also fit on the 81-87 fender/hoods
i might be wrong, but i doubt it. The body lines are the same on all...
its definitely the oil pan
the front (passenger side) corner is bent down, with the gasket kinda hanging out.
I have no idea how that happened, i dont even see how it could happen. Looks like someone pryed the corner down with a pry bar
i honestly havent climbed under there yet. gotta wait till 1700 to take off my acu's first.......but it looked like it was squirting out of the top of the gasket lip on the oil pan
it was leaking BAD
i left an almost solid line of oil up the street and back, when i left this morning, and circled...
anyone with a 231 have the oil pan gasket, just suddenly spring a really bad leak?
my car dumped a quart or more of oil on the ground, this morning, after PT. Looks like its leaking from the front of the oil pan gasket surface
that is what happened to my car. A previous owner put alot of miles on the car with it leaking a ton of oil from the valve covers.
Now there is almost a permanent burnt oil smell inside the car, which gets worse when air is blowing thru the vents
