    Rear Wheel/Tire Combo

OK, I'm very much in the planning stage. The car will be an '81 to '87 Grand Prix. LS3/6L80e/12 bolt Chevy or 9" Ford rear. I have settled on 17" x 9" with 5" back spacing Wheel Vintiques Pontiac Rallye II's. I will use a 275-40-17 tires which should be very close to the stock tire diameter...

    Stroked LS3 '81 to '87 Grand Prix

Shinobi, I should be watching your thread, you're way ahead of me. Good luck, it sounds like you have thought this through, like I'm trying to do. I want my plan set before I move forward with anything. If this plan goes like most of my plans, it'll change 10 times before I settle on one...

    Stroked LS3 '81 to '87 Grand Prix

64, I hear you on the rotating assembly. It may not make sense to some, but being an old Pontiac guy, I want 428 cubic inches. 500 hp isn't mandatory, just what I had in mind. Thanks for the information on the Terminator X and the 4L80e, that's what I thought, just looking for confirmation...

Lol, go big or go home... Slip of the finger, 4.1" stroke.

    Stroked LS3 '81 to '87 Grand Prix

What would the max safe compression ratio be? I have some more research to do with the stroke and compression height of the pistons to determine the CR on this build. My initial calculations give me 11.9:1, which scares the hell of of this old cast iron thinking guy. I know aluminum and the...

    Stroked LS3 '81 to '87 Grand Prix

Tony, yea, I was thinking my goals should be fairly easy to hit. Do you think I can do it (500 hp) with a mild, non lopey, cam without doing any port work?

    Stroked LS3 '81 to '87 Grand Prix

Years ago, I would have wanted a stick as well. At this stage of my life, an automatic is almost mandatory. I had a '99 Z28 and it had to have the manual 6 speed. In '99, I had no idea the the motor I had there (LS1) would be so used in swaps.

    Stroked LS3 '81 to '87 Grand Prix

Street, I'm looking at this rotating assembly (https://www.texas-speed.com/p-1019-tsp-427-or-429-cid-ls3l92-rotating-assembly.aspx) I called and spoke with them, I can get it with 4.075" pistons. Does anyone know anything about Texas Speed and Performance or their parts? The forged 8.1"...

    Stroked LS3 '81 to '87 Grand Prix

Thanks, Tex. That's the information I'm looking for. I'll stick with the 225's if it's even going to be close.

    Stroked LS3 '81 to '87 Grand Prix

OK, I've been lurking, researching, and learning. First of all, I'm a Pontiac guy through and through. I had a '68 GTO for 25 years. I traded it back in 2017 with no regrets. I had run my course with that car and had a lot of fun along the way. 1967 was my favorite year for the GTO and all...

    BUILD THREAD Grand Prix LS/Th400

Looks great! I will be in the market for a G Body Grand Prix in the next couple of years. I am now putting together a plan. As I move forward I would like to pick your brain on installing an LS in the Grand Prix. So far, my plan is: 1986 or 1987 Grand Prix LS3 Vette motor, modifications TBD...
