Ok, So I checked the fuse to the ignition. And there is three different terminals. One of them is open and the other two have pink wires coming from them. Is there any specific one I am supposed to use?
I went a grabbed a cap and coil I know works from my buddy just to test. And the car still...
Sorry, I should have updated. I didn't think an easy out could get back there, but I just went ahead and pulled the distributor and got it out. All is well in oil world now!
Now all I have to do is get this damn distributor to work...I don't think I am getting any spark, The motor just turns...
I've got a small smoking issue too. I think it's from the leak I had on my transmission coolant lines...Probably fell on the headers..
If it's from the passenger side, you might start off and check the oil dipstick and makesure it's seated correctly, perhaps go grab some minute gasket from Autozone...

So, My oil pressure sending unit seemed to be a tad bit jerry rigged...Surprise surprise coming from a used monte carlo in Indianapolis...lol
I think the little brass tubing he used was what the factory used..but he stacked like 6 of those little crew on fittings end to end to make the sending...

I never got it running. I went to the junkyard, found a nice distributor and coil that looked rarely used at all, put it in, changed the plug wires, put in new plugs, and tried my hardest to get it right on tdc....And it still idled with a hop...
And yeah Chickenpox, I KNow ALL about the fuel filters on these quadrajets. it is DEFINITELY worth the effort to get really close and turn that thing in there perfectly straight...Crossthread THAT thing and you might as well toss that whole section of the carb and get a different one, cause...
Thank you megaladon, I was wondering if I was going to have to go to my dad's and get that spark plug tester tool. he lives kinda far away. But I just hold it NEAR a ground? Like, inches? or touch it to an insulated part of the ground for the battery or something?

I took the base plate off of the JY carb and replaced my goood carb's baseplate, I got the engine to TDC with the rotor pointing the right direction, both valves closed on #1, mark on the balancer is right at 0, all plugs are in the right spot, I even advanced the timing just a hare...
