Welcome aboard! Beautiful example, and rare to boot. Great find! A real keeper for sure.

That's a nice one!
My older brother had a '78 Regal, blue ext with red pleather split bench and a 3.8 V6 4 speed.
have never seen another one since. Was a fun car for what it was..

Welcome to the GBodyForum!
Very nice Regal. There are plenty things you can do to help the handling and performance of your vehicle and still keep it "Stock Looking". Since this is your Forever Car, a few tasteful upgrades will not hurt while taking the "keeping it stock looking approach". It looks as though the exhaust has already been upgraded to a dual exhaust. Tastefully done and stock looking.

thanks for the welcome, little more info about the car, as it sits now the motor is a stock 454 with some bolt ons, intake, headers, other than that very mild. the trans is the original iron 4 speed along with the original open 7.5 rear w/2.93 gear. I have a m21, and gotten a new possi carrier 3.23 gears and new axles for the 7.5 just to beef it up a little. its just a cruiser. i would like to add a swaybar and maybe some newer stock boxed in rear control arms but im not sweating it. i plan on changing the steering wheel to the one in my bio pic, located all the original emblems they were removed, but all the silhouettes are still on the paint, so they will go right back where they were. l am haveing trouble finding center caps i like. my choices are black tri flag buick caps but i really want old original slot mag caps with just an A in the center. till next time, thanks again

Nice clean car! I'm in NY as well. I have never seen, or even heard of a stick shift Regal. My father ordered one brand new '78 and he was pi$$ed that it wasn't even available as an option. Can you show a pic of your steering column where the key is?

In ‘78 the Regal came standard with a 3 speed manual if it had the 3.2L v6, and standard with a 4 speed manual if it had the 3.8L (except for California cars or cars with the NA6 high altitude pkg., which were all automatics). The other versions that didn’t have a manual trans available were ones with the 4.9L or 5.0L v8s, or the 3.8L turbo.

Yes, my father ordered a V8 and the stick wasn't an option.

These ones, right?

Here's a couple sets on eBay, different versions:
