I see quite a few vic/mustang 8.8's swapped into g bodys and quite a few people use the trz motorsports swap kit. My problem is I opted for the explorer rear because of the 31 spline axles, true trac locker, and disc brakes. Two big problems are the leaf spring setup and the offset diff. I have a jig to shorten my axle tube but my problem right now is how to mount it. Is it as simple as welding on these brackets and using adjustable arms to set the pinion angle?

I have to ask why someone would go through all that when they could just buy a rear and bolt it in???

Good question.

I bought my fox rear for $150.
sperical bearings for $40
correctish axles for $50
gear set (optional) for $65
baseline stuff (optional) for $120
for a total of $240 or $525 (with options)

you cant count the upper and lower control arms because you need them anyways.

So my question to you is...
Where can you get a "bolt in" rear axle, as strong as a 12 bolt for $240 or $525?

Because ive gotten a few pm's about this..

buy the pro launch gold. 2nd one down..http://www.baselinesuspensions.com/kits/chevy.htmI think you will need a spherical bearing in the upper ear on axle.i paid $40 for mine but this is what your looking for.http://m.uprproducts.com/mustang-billet ... -inch.htmla conversion u joint $15-20and these for the lower....hiems on both endshttp://trickchassis.com/trickstore/inde ... cts_id=501I think alex at trick chassis is coming out with a baseline inspired kit so give him a shout.and a note to self...my fox (drum brakes) rear end wheel spacement...I have 5.5 back spacing on a 7/16 spacer. 5" would be ideal on a 15x8 for me. this should give you an idea on your wider rear. (he had a disc brake rear)

I was able to shorten my exsisting uppers to work with baselines kit. Im cheap. lol
