My black 85 442

Here's pictures of my black 85 442 I bought new. It has 60K miles on it now. It's got original paint and hasn't been touched, except for normal wear items. I've got a truckload of NOS GM parts for its eventual going through to pristine status.

It's a great thrill to be an original owner of the car. I couldn't fathom ever selling it. It's not the greatest thing on 4 wheels, but it's a survivor, I bought it new, and it's a piece of nostalgia that's been with me almost half my life. It's like a member of the family, really. It will be going through a complete makeover one of these days. It's amazing how even when you DON'T use a car how bad off it can get by just sitting. Still better than most I've seen, but could use some refurbishing here and there. It's kind of funny, it still has a newish-vinyl like smell to the interior even after all these years. Obviously not a new-car smell, but it's not like an old, musty car either. 80s GM paint still sucks.

As I see more and more of these cars go to the crusher or get parted out, it makes me happy to know I've got my own little piece of 1985 Olds performance history...and a truckload of NOS parts to fix it up like new again. Only this time, it'll be base/clear instead of the factory lacquer.

I don't have any more pictures though. Not good ones or web ready, anyway. I'm not much into pictures. I only took these for this poster someone was making...
