FOR SALE 79 Olds 260 diesel, 39,000 miles, Trans & 7.5 rear end

Bumping up. The rear axle is claimed. I am willing to give the engine and trans away, you can pick up or arrange for shipping from Alpharetta, GA or I can possibly coordinate delivery on an open trailer within a reasonable distance from Alpharetta, GA or Augusta, GA. You'd need to be able to...

For those with Holley swap kit, how close is the rear coil to the AC box?

My car has the Holley mounts and 6.0 LQ9 block. I wanted to relocate the coils just because I liked the look better. I ordered low profile valve covers, black with polished ribs, but the ribs make them thicker than the stock covers. Had to do a small notch in the heater box, but it was easily...

FOR SALE 79 Olds 260 diesel, 39,000 miles, Trans & 7.5 rear end

I'm not on Facebook. Personal decision for my own sanity and time management. The transmission is a 3 speed, either 200 or 250THM. The $1,000 asking price is for all 3 - engine, transmission and 7.5" rear end as a package deal. Just trying to move them along to someone who can use them...

    Interior Panels Faded colored

What mikester said is correct - don't use regular spray paint. For my 79 Cutlass carmine red interior (same as yours, I think) I repainted mine with SEM interior coat. I bought the pre-cleaner, adhesion promoter and first pint from a forum sponsor. I did my door and rear trim panels and...

GRAND PRIX Not mine, but very nice GP for sale

On Barn Finds recently - maybe the most complete and solid 79 Grand Prix I have seen. From my recollection, the universal G-Body replacement door panels and consoles don't look like the ones in this GP, so this car in this condition may be "the one" for someone who wants an all original Grand...

FOR SALE 79 Olds 260 diesel, 39,000 miles, Trans & 7.5 rear end

No sir, Oldsmobile made both gas and diesel versions of the 4.3 liter, 260 cubic inch V8 in 1979. The 4.3 liter V6 version came later, 1982 I believe. This is a 1979 V8 unit.

BUILD THREAD Project Diesel No More/Teen Dreams Realized

Yes sir, I am thankful and grateful I was able to find this car, and even more thankful the prior owner set a reasonable price so I could get it and see my dreams become reality. This car has deeper meanings going back to my grandfather and great uncle, my Mom & Dad, and my best friends and...

BUILD THREAD Project Diesel No More/Teen Dreams Realized

For those interested, I have posted the original 260 diesel engine, transmission & rear axle from this car for sale in the classifieds. They only had 39,000 miles on them and were running well when removed. I don't really want to junk them, but need to get them out of my friend's warehouse soon.

They have been in dry...

Got the interior fully reinstalled this weekend. As usual, flash makes the colors look a bit lighter than they really are from some angles. Summary of interior work - prior work: - Dakota Digital dash - gauges are same layout as OEM, just bigger and no idjit lights. - Swapped out OEM stereo for...

Here's something that turned out better than expected. The chrome strip in the middle of the console was faded or worn in some areas. I was considering trying an airbrush and some chrome model paint, but came across some chrome pinstripe tape. The strip on the console is ~1/8-3/16", so I...

About 70 degrees and no rain today, so seemed like best chance to do the seat back, console and dash cover touch up painting. I made a paint booth out of a 10 x 10 pop up awning and poly sheeting. I put a heater inside to get the temp up a little more and reduce humidity. Cleaned everything and...

BUILD THREAD Project Diesel No More/Teen Dreams Realized

I have replaced carpet in a couple of vehicles before, most recently my 96 Dodge Dakota. Don't recall it being as big a pain in the rear as this has been. The primary issue is the surplus material the carpet vendor leaves on. I put an ultra thin plastic sheet over the new carpet, dropped the...

Cold & rainy today. I won't be going to any cruise ins or car shows for about a month due to other events on the weekend schedule, so I figured it's time to get the carpet swapped out. Check out the floor pans. Really amazing this car came out of Minnesota. I found the build sheet, but it is...
