    BUICK 1964 Skylark Coupe Project

It's a good product. It's great for lapping patch panels as it will seal between the panels so that no moisture or dirt can get between them and cause rot. If you are doing it that way, you want to completely cover the overlapped areas, don't just gun out a bead or it won't seal and won't be as...

    BUICK 1964 Skylark Coupe Project

Yep. Weld the outside, inside lip is glued. I obviously don't have a factory style resistance welder, so if I were to weld the lip, I'd have to drill holes every 2 inches or so, plug weld them and grind the welds down. The panel bond is a lot easier. No drilling, no welding and the glue itself...

Got the arch glued on the lip today. Still need to weld the rest but it is in place. Overall very happy with the fitment. Used the same Fusor panel bonding adhesive I've used in the past. Stuff works well but has really gone up in price. These tubes used to be about $45-50. They are now $70.

Like I said, might be wishful thinking.

What did you do to your non-G Body project today [2024 edition]

Late last week my Dad purchased this Honda CR-V from his sister with the intent of giving it to my youngest sister to drive to college in the fall. We brought it home today. My aunt bought the car new, I actually went with her when she bought it. It's only got 130k miles and runs/drives/stops...

That coating was so tough that sandpaper barely touched it.

You wanna ride down to Pittsburgh and strip the inside of the trunk on the Skylark as well as you did that Monte? :ROFLMAO:

Looks good. I usually just use a wool pad on a rotary and some M105 compound unless they are really bad. The only ones that gave me a lot of trouble were the ones on my F150. They have some sort of coating on them that is very hard and will not polish. I ended up replacing the housings.

    BUICK 1964 Skylark Coupe Project

I went and picked up the shrinker/stretcher set from HF this morning. It works well. I did a few practice pieces to get the hang of it. After which I got my small cutoff corner and started putting some more curve in it. Not sure how well I did. I used a template, but the fitment still isn't...

Went & did some tire kicking

DBU has been discontinued for several years now. DBC is it for Deltron. $300/pint is on par for most colors. Still a lot of shopline stuff available. The Shopline urethane isn't bad.

Got the final trimming done on the outer patch panel and got two coats of regular POR-15 applied to as much of the inner arch as I could. The paint needs to dry and I need to drill the holes in the lip and coat the inside with weld thru primer, then it'll just need to be burned in.

    BUICK 1964 Skylark Coupe Project

POR Patch appeared to work nicely this time. So I guess even though it's a thicker liquid it isn't necessarily supposed to be applied heavier. I'm really just glad that it wasn't a surface contamination issue. I don't need this area to be a cosmetic repair being that it is all hidden but I don't...

    BUICK 1964 Skylark Coupe Project

Well they got back to me this morning via email. They said when it does that, it was either put on too heavy or humidity was too high. So this morning, I ground off as much as I could and blasted over the surface. Apparently when this happens it doesn't affect the integrity of the product...

Worst case Ontario, if this is a product issue, I'll blast back down to clean steel, 2K epoxy and use a 2K seam sealer to fill the pinholes.
