A few more photos… 51K actual miles. Very clean and solid underneath. No issues. GM B-bodies had the axle identification on a tag instead of stamped into the axle tube. This tag shows the 3.23, code KG, and build info for the rear end. This is a 3.23 open rear end. If it had limited slip...

Most of these cars did come with the 350. The 403 was a $340 option in 1978. 2.41 was the standard gear set. The 3.23s were as deep as you could go from the factory. This car has the 8.5 inch rear end (Buick built) with the larger 11 inch rear drum brakes instead of the 9.5 inch drums...

I'm pretty sure that's an Olds 350 under the hood, most likely the original (?). The offset air cleaner was designed to clear the HEI on the olds 350 and 403. The 1978 Cutlass Calais(s) I've owned had the Chevy 305 and neither had this style of air cleaner.
