Vanity plate is a separate process. I wanted to get one ASAP, but it's like a 2-month wait to get one. I just wanted to get it on the road. I plan on getting one, but no rush.

Re: Real ID licenses. They’re causing total chaos out here. They’re probably about 80% of what the DMV is processing out here. Again, I’m treading lightly on the tightrope of being political, but all because of some politicians’ well-meaning (at least in their eyes) but misguided desire to give illegal immigrants drivers licenses. Unfortunately, that means legitimate, law-abiding citizens have to jump through all these new hoops to get a “Real ID” compliant license. Tell me how this makes any sense?

I didnt bother getting the Enhanced license. I just got the Real ID one. I worked at a Federal site. I still have an active ID from there. I havent flown in years and I'll NEVER travel to Mexico. Havent been to Canada and Im 65. Dont think I'll ever go there either. LOL

So what’s the difference between “Real ID” and “Enhanced”?

The Enhanced can be used for crossing into Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean. The Real ID cant. I think after 10/20 you'll need to have a Real ID or an Enhanced for ID on a domestic flight. I think 5 states are already using them. Be nice if they were used to ID you when you vote. LOL
Be even better if they start putting photos on Medicaid cards. Just sayin.... lol

Caliwagon is probably going with "SSFLLNE" . JK congrats on getting on the road. Smog here in Colorado sucks the big one too, so that's a huge hurdle. On another DMV note, TURNA, did NY ever begin to issue titles for pre 73 (I think) vehicles, or do you still just have a registration?

But it makes perfect sense, once you recognize the (political = business) truth that these people are not illegal immigrants. They used to be. Then for a while they were undocumented. Now they are migrants. It's all very simple.

I don't use the term "illegal" as a pejorative or as some xenophobic Bubba. It's the actual, legal term for "undocumented" immigrants. :)
