Daytona 500 Sunday

I quit watching regularly after Dale died at Daytona. Still watched it occasionally till Teresa ran Jr. out of DEI. Could care less about it now. I did watch a lap or two just to see how many empty seats there was though.

Tracks have been removing seats over the last several years so they don't look as empty. Daytona removed the entire backstretch grandstands. Michigan removed all the stands in turns 3 & 4. Many others that haven't gone through the expense of removing the seats, instead use gigantic sponsor banners to cover the grandstands that they're not using.

They are pricing themselves out of it. Last year at MIS I think the cheapest ticket was $108.00

Does anyone follow tractor pulling?? I love it and the Championship @ Bowling Green Oh is only $100.00 for 3 days which is 5 races.

Dont forget they also painted the "seats" different colors to give the appearance of not being empty

I think Ive been to 10 NASCAR races and have never bought a ticket.

Anyways it was cool seeing my buddy Thomas under the 48 banging out the quarter panel after that wreck on pit road.

Im not really a "fan" of anyone in particular but I dont link Hamlin, he wrecked a friend of mined late model at Eldora during the Prelude to the Dream back when they still had that. All the other drivers paid for the damage they caused to their respective car owners cars. Not Denny!

I don't follow Nascar but I love to go watch the races at the local dirt track. Lernerville Speedway is about a 45 minute drive from me and they do the "fab four"; sprints, late models, big block modifieds, and stock cars every Friday usually from March to around October, weather permitting. I think a ticket is around $10 or so. Bit of a different demographic in the stands, but makes for some interesting people-watching.
