    malibu wagon roof rack

Under the rail " stands or legs " there is a rubber groment with a threaded barrel. The screws go thru the stand/leg into this groment and pull tension downwards to secure it. There is a gasket between the stand/leg and roof. The center rails have a full length gasket and screws.

anybody ever installed 8 point cage?wagon of course

Just wondered something ???? Is that your wagon in the picture ? If it is that's a good looking wagon ! If so,how did you modify the roof chrome on the outside roll to cover up the holes left from the roof rack bars ? I took my roof rack off and have experimented with different ideas such...

anybody ever installed 8 point cage?wagon of course

I've been checking around to do the same thing,an 8 or 10 point to my 78' Malibu wagon, but have pretty much concluded that nobody I checked with makes a cage specific to the G-Body wagons. I guess a person has to just buy a cage for a 2 dr. and then modify it. I think the swing out bar will...

    78 Grand Prix project

Forgot to mention. My best friends parents had a 78 or 79 GP with all the bells and whistle's including the c.b. radio that worked.I guess they sold that car sometime in the mid 80's.It was the silver/black scheme that Pontiac put on the GP's.

    78 Grand Prix project

Besides the Grand Prix 2+2 Areocoupe, the 78' GP's are the best. Also in my opinion, about all of the 78' model G-Bodys are the best of the G series.I guess it's because I fill that most of the best options for the G's were optioned in 78'. Nice car !

    Rear end ratio..

As far as I know all 7.5 gears are the same (S-10/G-Body).The axles may be different, hence the posi unit will have to be the same as the unit/housing your using. The 2 series carrier will accomadate up to a 2:73 gear. The 3 series will go 3:23,3:42,3:73 in the 7.5 rearends. You can find...

What auto shift consoles will work in G-Bodys ?

Sorry if this topic already been debated. But what other car body's auto shifter consoles will work in our G-Bodys ? I have the shifter's and all the cable's from both a 86-87 Cadillac Seville and an 86 model Olds Calais (fwd). Wonder if they will fit alright,or will they have to be...

Switching seat covers from one type to another ???

I currently have a set of 81-85 Buick Ltd 60/40 crushed vellore seats in my 79' Malibu. Their not in bad shape, some fading, but I see where I can buy factory stlye seat covers that look like the original Malibu seats. My question is this: Can I put regular flat style seat covers on the Buick...

Help car won't go over 60 mph!

Does this car have the heat riser flap (not for sure if correct term)on the passenger side exhuast manifold like the 305's ? When my Dad bought his 78' Malibu wagon with a 305 from the original owner it would not run over 45 mph with the pedal to the floor, motor screaming to beat all. Turned...

Are 85' Regal dashs worth much, and what years will they fit

I stripped out a 85" Buick T-Type several years ago and boxed up the dash maroon in color,to protect it.Now it's taking up some storage space I need. So what years of Regal dashs are the same ? And what are they worth ? I also have the pod for the dash, but sorry the turbo boost-speedo insert...

How fast have you gone in your gbody on the street?

Back in 1987 a friends handheld roundtrack computer said my 79' Malibu ran 154 mph. I had to enter the wheel diameter, gear ratio (at the time I had torn up my 3:73 and had a 2:29 gear from a 81' v6 Grand Prix) and the engine rpm.Which with the 2:29 I could only muster 3300-3400 rpm all out...

little info needed on what i need??

That appears to be a factory stock rearend unit gutted out to put a mini spool in. I think you should be able to place all your limited slip spiders/shims/springs inside.Their not hard to rebuild. The 3 series carrier is just off set some to allow the lower gear ratios. I broke too many...

    solid motor mounts

The 78' Malibu wagon my Dad raced has a poly trans, mount and traditional factory motor mounts. It does have a chain on the left side of the motor to control the motor "twist",but should have solid mounts instead. I've rode in street cars with solid mounts, and to tell the truth, other than a...

    Strong rear end needed!!!!!

I have a 66-67 Chevelle 12 bolt setup for a G-Body with a GM 4 series carrier and a 4:88 gear.I used it for about half a year at the track back in 91' in a streetable bracket car that only ran 8:60's in the 1/8 th mile (very, very mild motor). At the time I put new Richmond gears, axle bearings.It...
