I see the cost/benefit of my 86 442 working out in my favor. I bought the car in 2009 for a reasonable price. Swapped in a 4.8l LS and 4l60e on a budget......and now I just enjoy it. Liabilty insurance is a few hundred $ per year. Gas mileage is 20+mpg.......I drive it April -Nov....maybe...

You are correct in that girls won't be impressed by 40 year old run of the mill cars......but my 86 442 gets a fair amount of attention when I have it out and about......moreso than the modern belly button Camaros, Mustangs, and Corvettes. I've got to think that the Cadillac in your signature...

Good 2wd 4l80e's can be had for $3-500. Add a Transgo HD2 shift kit and I would trust that over a $3k 4l60e rebuild.

So back in the 80's if you were to buy lightning rods from a speed shop.....did Hurst also sell a shift plate?......or counsel? How were guys installing them?

Well done. You have the perfect ext/int color combo....the optimal drivetrain....and the 17" N90 wheels really compliments the clean factory appearing exterior. I can't think of a single thing that would make this car any better than what it already is. You've got my vote for g-body of the year.

I have a few clocked and welded. Also, RKE modules, jeep shafts, and stay-down license plate holders.

Shouldn't last long at that price. Not to nit pick but you have 3.73 gears if stock (my apologies if you swapped gears or an 83-84 rear)

Flipped truck manifolds with v-band flanges have proven themselves.

In my case, it became an issue when I swapped an 86 GP frame under an 86 442. I had always assumed the frame was slightly different.
