is frame notching the only way, or can wheel spacers be added? I'm trying to run 295/50/15's on the back, but I'm touching frame. 1/2" would clear it and I dont want to cut the frame.

I got the correct lug nuts for the centerline wheels and contemplated just stuffing a sbc in it and being done. Still set on putting the 2jz in it, but until season slows down, I'm working to much to get the time I need.

So I picked up a 2JZ-GE today,and the seller included the transmission and driveshaft,ecm, harnesses and the accessories. I'm going to tear the motor down and rebuild it before I install it. In the meantime, I'll procure the mounts n have a driveshaft made n such.

I started crunching numbers. Weight: 86 monte SS ; 3640 2000 lexus gas; 3638. Dead even. Monte came with a 4 speed auto trans. The lexus has a 5 speed auto. The SBC weighs 525 lbs. The 2Jz motor weighs 518 lbs. Again- the same. Horsepower: 180 for the Chevy. 220 for the 2jz, unboosted. So...

Not even close! I deal with the ugly,broken pools and spas. Hardly ever see the stereotypical cougar.... But I am married to a super hottie. :) ...and yes- I know how lucky I am. She texted me today to remind me I needed spark plugs while I was out.

I found a 2JZ engine and transmission out of a 2000 lexus on craigslist for a whopping 300 dollars. I go get it tomorrow,so the project will move along finally. I acquired a mini cooper convertible recently,and spent some time customizing it a bit. The Audi has gotten $2000 worth of repairs...

I have come to grips with the fact that in order to move this shell, that 6 cylinder is going to have to breathe, so yes- gas mileage will be low. I'm starting off N/A, but I do want to turbo it once its in.

I go tomorrow to pick up the 2jz engine. Let the fabrication begin!

Could you use the 6" hood if you put it on front hinges? Maybe do a shaker hood like the old T/A's. They looked cool but the little band clamp was a pain to take off and put on. That motor its just a beast! Good luck with it, however you go.

I think when its done in black it'll look custom and not like an afterthought. If that's all it takes top get the clearance you need and the filtration you want, then I say: go for it. It'll hold you over till you find something better or it grows on you. Sick looking engine bay,BTW. Me likey.

I changed the headliner. Old one was sagging, and the car came with another. I Broke one trim clip but got it back together ok. Now I'm thinking about adding LED interior lighting. I'm debating between red for looks and white for logic ..... Might just do both on a toggle switch.
