I finally got all of the front end sheet metal buttoned up and aligned. I reinstalled the radiator with the electric fan and also started on engine accessories and EFI. I will be taking it from home to the shop when we get a couple days to work on personal projects and not customers stuff.

So after what seemed like two months of trying to find a few hours on the weekend, I finally did yesterday. The new motor is finally in the chassis. In a effort to seal it up, I put the plugs and headers on it while I was at it. I will start picking away at it here soon once it comes off the...

The motor is finally together, long block assembled and ready to go on the test stand. I have my lifters on the way directly from Edelbrock and a new set of rockers coming from Scorpion. From there, I will throw the engine on the test stand and break it in and then it goes in the Monte for good.

LT1 swap update - split loom install

They sell a 2.84/ 1.55 first second gear ratio set which makes for much more friendly launches if you drag race. It makes first gear longer and avoids the drastic gear ration split on the 1-2 shift. https://www.sonnax.com/parts/3734-2-84-ratio-input-carrier-kit

Plug clearance is killer. I also have AFR 190 (L98 old school set from early 2000's) and they all have great access from what I remember. I will see about them now that we have moved a tube but they cant be as bad as others are. As for fitment, I believe the collectors are parallel with the...

LT1 swap update - split loom install

There are a few easy and good upgrades you can do to the transmission to make it much happier in the long run if you want to go through it before installing it in the wagon. I would even consider going with a first gear swap depending on how serious you are.

    1 3/4 SBC Headers / AC / T 56

Im using the LT1 slave style bell housing and while I dont have any pictures of it, it clears quite well from mock up. I will get pictures of this when I start assembly.

Here are some pictures showing final welding. Ironically, we did not need any additional materials. The cut section provided for all of the modified routing.

    1 3/4 SBC Headers / AC / T 56

The concern is the T56 is much wider from the bellhousing back then most any 4 speed. The headers clear fine and the hydraulic throw out lines will clear just fine.

These headers are designed for the roundy round guys. They are a basic design common to Schoenfeld and Dynatech. These headers can be had for as little as 150 bucks or so in mild steel. With these, the headers will protrude about 1 1/2 or 2 inch into and 2-3 inch from the front of the AC box...

    1 3/4 SBC Headers / AC / T 56

Yes,They weld fine. I have a very skilled fab shop doing this for me as it requires stainless tig. As you can see its the number 4 tube that needs attention on the AC cars. Its now parallel to the number 6 tube or slightly below and should work quite well. I do plan to employ some sort of...

My engine block came home last weekend and I hope to start assembly of it tomorrow. In the meanwhile, the Holley headers are in and as expected, I have modified one header to fit with the stock AC box. overall I am very happy with the price and the ease.
