I've switched my plan to modify a 400 to a 350. Should make life easier.
A little worried about install though. Guys got any ideas on what to use to get that trans in? Will I need something special? Trying to buy the tools I don't have already slowly.

Update... seeing if I can modify the deal to get just the engine w/o the TH400. Going to buy a TH350 separately. I would really like to have the 400, but after all the info you guys have given, I think I may start with a 350 so I don't get too far out there. This is y first time and I know this...
I have not. It's an eBay purchase. Leaning on the seller's solid reviews (2200 reviews at 99%) and that he has a guarantee on it. $725, shipping included. For the price I'm willing to make some small mods to make the trans work. Although I admit I'd be happier with a 350 and less work lol

I'm betting I can figure out most anything mechanical, but fabrication Im lost on. Wouldn't even know where to start/who to source it from...
Not sure... But I can find out from the seller. Engine is being shipped. But no money has been exchanged so I'm still in control.

Seller claims it's a 350 from a 72, but I trust you guys... Youre not trying to sell it lol. Is the 403 a better engine? For some reason I've been stuck on finding a 350.

Shortening the drive shaft... Is that going to involve anything custom? I'm trying to make this thing as plug and play (within the reasoning of an engine/transmission swap) as possible. Of not, may need to see if I can get the engine and a different transmission.
